Disappearing and scheduled messages
Disappearing messages
/expire 5m (or 1h, 1d, 7d) makes everything sent in this thread from now on disappear that long after it is read, on every device in the thread; /expire off stops it. The ⏳ pill in the header says the setting and opens it. This is a promise between clients: the server never held the words, and a copy somebody made — a screenshot, a forward — is theirs. An operator can turn the feature off under Features.
Scheduled messages
Send later on the + menu takes a date and a time from a picker; the message waits in the composer's tray and goes when the time comes, as long as a device of yours is signed in then. A scheduled message is sealed when it is sent, not when it is written.
Reminders and timers
/remind 10m call Sam (or 2h, 1d) taps you on the shoulder that much later: a toast with the words, a note, and a system notification if the tab is in the background and notifications are allowed. /timer 5m is the same with no words. /reminders lists what is pending, with the time each is due; /reminders clear drops them all. A reminder lives on this device only — it is not sent anywhere, nobody else sees it, and closing the tab forgets it.
Drafts
What you were typing in each thread is kept on this device, and a thread with a draft is marked in the rail. Leaving with something typed asks first, always: that is not a setting.
See Formatting a message and Typing / for a command.
