What this password does

It encrypts and unlocks the private keys stored in this browser. It is never sent to the server, and the server has no way to recover it. Forgetting it means starting a new identity — your contacts will see the change and can re-verify you.

Send read receipts Let people you talk to see when their messages are delivered and read. Turning this off also hides theirs from you being sent. Individual conversations can be silenced with the 👁 button in their header. Sync keys to this server (encrypted) Keep a copy of your keys on the server, sealed under your passphrase, so you can sign in from another device with just your username and passphrase. The server stores only ciphertext it cannot open — but it does hold something a passphrase guess could be tried against, so use a strong one. Turning this off deletes the server's copy. Do Not Disturb schedule Silences live notifications (mentions, and anything else this browser would otherwise pop up) during a daily window — purely local to this browser. The server's own push is payload-less already and can't be selectively held back, so this only affects what this open tab shows you.

Devices

Every device signed into this account. Signing one out closes its sessions now and refuses it at every future sign-in. A device that still holds your passphrase could present itself as a new one — signing out evicts a lost or old device; changing your passphrase is what locks out a compromised one.

Scheduled messages

Written now, sent later. The queue lives in this browser and is never shown to the server — it holds the plaintext and the timing this app exists to keep from it. That means only this tab can deliver one: leave it open, or the message waits until you next open it.

Safety number

Compare these digits with the other person over a channel you already trust — in the room, or on a call. If they match, no one is sitting in the middle. If they change later, you will see a warning here.
