Being asked to review access

If you own a room or lead a unit, you may be asked, every so often, to confirm person by person that everyone in it still belongs there.

What you are being asked

For each person: keep, remove, escalate (you cannot tell, pass it up), or unknown. Beside each name you are shown when they joined, who invited them, and when they last posted in the conversation.

The one thing to be careful about

"Hasn't posted" is evidence, not proof.

This server knows when an account last put a message into a conversation and nothing whatever about what it said. Somebody can read a room every day for a year without ever posting in it and belong in it completely — a lawyer watching a matter, a manager watching a project, anybody whose job is to know rather than to say. A review that treated silence as absence would remove exactly the wrong people, so the app shows the date beside the decision and never as the decision. It does not pre-select "remove" for a quiet member, and it does not sort them to the top as though they were the answer.

What happens when it closes

The decisions are applied together, at the end — so you can change your mind while you work down the list. Anybody you could not decide about is kept and passed up to whoever leads the unit, rather than removed: an owner on vacation would otherwise empty a room, and a control that causes an outage is a control that gets turned off.

A digest of the decisions is written into the record, so what was decided is pinnable rather than merely stored.
