Questions people ask

Can Yeetline, or the people who run this server, read my messages? No. A message is sealed on your device to the devices of the people in the thread, and the server relays and stores ciphertext it cannot open. What it can see — who talks to whom, and when — is on What this server can and cannot see.

I forgot my passphrase. The server never had it, so it cannot reset it. If the account is still signed in on another device, set a new passphrase in Settings there. If it is linked to Google, Continue with Google still opens it. Otherwise the keys are lost and the way on is a new account.

Why does it ask for a passkey? Because a passkey signs you in with a touch and nothing typed, and cannot be phished. Add one under Settings once; the sign-in page then takes an empty password box as "use the passkey".

Where is the message I sent while offline? In the outbox, marked as waiting. It goes when the connection is back; the line under the stream says so while it is not.

Why did a notification say "3 new messages" instead of what they said? Messages from one thread while the window is away are one notification that counts, replaced in place, so a busy room is not a stack of them. The text stays off entirely if "Hide the message in notifications" is on.

Can I use it on my phone? Yes: in the browser, or installed from Settings where the browser offers it, or — on an iPhone — Share → Add to Home Screen. The apps for Android and the desktops are the same client in a shell of their own.

Something is wrong. The Report button at the foot of the rail files it with the people who run this server, with a picture if you attach one.
