What Yeetline is

Yeetline is a secure chat and video-calling service: rooms, direct messages, files, pictures and calls. What is said and sent in them is end-to-end encrypted in the browser: the server relays sealed bytes and cannot open them. It is free at its core, and it is sold to governments and organisations that need their communication kept private. Each organisation gets a dedicated deployment — its own server and its own accounts — run for it as a service. This is one of them.

This deployment runs Yeetline 0.1.191, database schema 51.

What that means in practice

• Your keys are made in your browser and never leave it in a form this server can use.
• The passphrase you type does not sign you in. It unlocks the keys on this device; the keys then answer a challenge the server sets. There is no password here to steal, and nothing for a database leak to expose.
• Nobody — not Yeetline, not the operator, not a moderator, not an administrator — can read what you write. Not because they promise not to: because there is no key here that opens it.
• The server does see what it must in order to deliver at all: usernames, public keys, who is online, and the size and timing of messages.

What it is not

It is not a chat server somebody has to run for themselves, and it is not one server shared by everyone. This deployment is its own: it has an operator, and the rules are theirs. What is allowed, how long things are kept, whether guests may join — all of that is set here, for this deployment, rather than once for everyone.

It is also not anonymous. Your username is visible to everyone on the server, and the operator can see when you are connected and from what address. See What this server can and cannot see, which is written to be honest rather than reassuring.
